Meridian is a news analysis tool. We are committed to being straightforward about what data we collect and how we use it. The short version: we collect very little, we do not sell anything, and we do not create user profiles.

What we collect

Anonymous usage analytics

Meridian uses Vercel Speed Insights to measure page load performance. This collects anonymous, aggregated data such as page load times and geographic region. No personally identifiable information is collected. Vercel's privacy policy applies to this data.

No account data

Meridian does not currently have user accounts, login, or registration. We do not collect names, email addresses, or passwords.

No cookies

We do not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies. Your theme preference (dark/light mode) may be stored in your browser's local storage — this stays on your device and is never transmitted to us.

Content we process

Meridian automatically fetches publicly available news articles from RSS feeds published by third-party news organisations. This content is analysed by AI to identify themes, entities, and potential conflicts of interest. All source articles remain the property of their respective publishers.

Third-party services

  • Vercel — hosts the web application and collects anonymous performance metrics
  • Supabase — stores article data and AI analysis results in a secure database
  • Anthropic Claude — performs AI analysis on article text; content is processed according to Anthropic's data usage policies

Data retention

Article content and analysis results are retained indefinitely to power the narrative tracking and omission detection features. No personal data is retained because no personal data is collected.

Children

Meridian is not directed at children under the age of 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Meridian after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
